Calling all canines!
Dog Days of Summer romps into Todmorden Mills, Sunday August 26

Todmorden Mills Heritage Museum and Arts Centre will be going to the dogs Sunday, August 26, when canines of all descriptions—and their owners, of course—gather in the Don Valley for a free, family fun afternoon celebrating all things doggy.

Strut your stuff in the Best Trick contest and take part in the trick training session where you’ll teach your dog to ring a bell. Is your dog a singer? Then enter him or her in the Pup Idol contest. Winners will receive prizes.

A special feature of the event is the opportunity to take the Canadian Kennel Club’s Good Neighbour Test, a 12-step, non-competitive drill being conducted for just $25 during Todmorden’s Dog Days of Summer (pre-registration is required; contact Kelly at 416 396 2819). The CGN test allows dog and handler the chance to demonstrate confidence and control through a series of challenges. Dogs are evaluated on their ability to perform basic exercises as well as their demonstration of good manners in everyday situations. The Canadian Kennel Club encourages all dog owners to participate in the program, ensuring that our beloved canines are welcome and respected members of our communities. All graduates receive a certificate.

Also on site will be booths from dog organizations, a canine chiropractor, shops, and crafters.
Get in the historic spirit of Todmorden Mills by having your photo taken in period costume, along with your dog, naturally ($5 sitting fee applies).

Event runs from 12 noon – 4 pm and parking is free. Dogs must be on 6 foot leashes (no retractable-leads please) and owners are asked to stoop and scoop.
