(Toronto, ON), Oct.23, 2006 - Interpath Pty Ltd., is pleased to announce the Nov. 2 release of breakthrough research findings from a three-year study of “the efficacy and safety of the constituents (abalone, shark cartilage, perna mussel)” contained in the products Sasha's Blend ™ (for pets) Sasha's Equine ™(for horses) and the human formulation Joint XL™.

In addition, the study offers startling results concerning the effectiveness of a “new and exciting constituent four,” an ingredient to be added to the already hugely-successful joint-inflammation reduction formula. Still in R&D, this new constituent four has the potential to revolutionize the treatment of a number of commonly occurring ailments involving tissue and cellular inflammation, including asthma, dermatitis, cognitive dysfunction and gastrointestinal diseases.

The research was carried out by Ph.D. researcher Wendy Pearson, under the supervision of Dr. Michael Lindinger, Associate Professor for the Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Guelph.

In a Laboratory model reproducing digestive and absorption processes, it was found that cartilage treated with Sasha's EQ™/Sasha's Blend™ / JointXL™:

  • Produced less of the pain-transmitters nitric oxide and prostaglandin E2 than controls, strongly suggesting a vehicle for pain reduction.

  • Reduced the incidence of glycosaminoglycan (GAG) release in joints, a process which can demonstrably weaken cartilage integrity.

  • Increased the production of chondrocytes, the cells that regenerate healthy cartilage.

These results and the remarkable findings regarding “constituent four” will be released for general perusal on Thursday, Nov. 2006 at 958 Broadview Ave, Toronto.
